Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Panhandle Laser Vision Institute is committed to keeping our patients and the public health during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, we are answering the following questions:

Is Panhandle Laser Vision Institute going to remain open thru the COVID-19 pandemic?

We will continue to provide vision-saving treatment for our patients. However, we will need to modify how patients move through our offices and change our schedule to minimize the risk of infecting our patients and staff.

Should I keep my appointment?

If you are in the group of patients that have been told to essentially stay home, please call us to evaluate your situation and reschedule at an appropriate time. This group includes, in part, senior citizens and those who might be immuno-compromised.

Otherwise, we will be calling you before your appointment, as well as inquiring at check-in, to ask if you have any risk factors that might put others at risk including travel history, fever, cough or shortness of breath. If you have these symptoms please call your doctor. Please do not reschedule your eye appointment until your doctor or the health authorities say it is safe to do so. If you have no symptoms but have a travel history or contact with someone who has either a fever or cough, or tested positive for the Coronavirus, we need you to reschedule to postpone your appointment for at least 14 days.

How will my office visit be different?

Depending on the volume of patients in the office at any one time, we may ask you to wait outside or in your car until we are ready to call you back.

We ask that only one person accompany each patient and will limit exam areas to patients only, with drivers either remaining in the main waiting room area, outside, or in their cars.

We will also clean the exam rooms between each patient encounter, including wiping all surfaces with approved disinfectants.

We are here to help!
